Agricultural Strategy & Innovation Technician

Scottish Agronomy is the leading organisation in Scotland devoted to the provision of independent arable advice to farmers. We were established in 1985 with the objective of producing gathering, interpreting and disseminating technical information solely for the benefit of the membership. We provide agronomy advice on combinable crops and potatoes. Our advice is largely driven by information generated from our extensive trials network throughout the country.

We are looking for someone to join our growing team at Arlary, Kinross, KY13 9SL. The successful candidate should have excellent analytical and communication skills which they will utilise to applied research data to support the combinable crop and potato advisory services that keep members of our co-operative at the leading edge.

 This post provides an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to develop the skills required to deliver our services to farmer co-operative members, corporate clients, and industry organisations.

 A taster of the main duties:

 * To assist in interpreting, collating and disseminating technical information derived from independent crop trials and published studies.

* To identify new areas of R & D that will directly benefit members.

* Assist in the delivery of Scottish Agronomy’s arable advisory services in Scotland and occasionally in international opportunities that arise.

 We are looking for candidates with a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture or equivalent applied biology, soil science or environmental science is essential for the position. A postgraduate qualification such as MSc or demonstrable relevant experience is desirable for the appointment.

 A current full driving licence is essential since travel to locations through Scotland will be required.
