Amy is the fourth generation of her family to live and work at Wester Braikie Farm near Arbroath on the Angus coast. Alongside her Dad, she farms 275 Ha of Winter Oilseed Rape, Winter Wheat and Spring Barley, with fields let seasonally for seed potatoes and vining peas. They use overwintered cover crops, and have a sheep grazing agreement with a local shepherd to graze them off. There are 25Ha of mixed woodland on the farm, with 20 Ha of margins, hedges, permanent grass and fallow areas managed with nature in mind. Wester Braikie have been Scottish Agronomy members for 20 years and really value the knowledge shared and advice provided as indispensable to our business.
Apart from being Vice Chair of NFUS Combinable Crop Committee and Chair of the Voluntary Initiative in Scotland, she is also Vice Chair for RHET Angus and enjoys hosting visitors on the farm to learn about food and farming and the countryside.
