BOARD MEMBER

For just over a year, Iain has been in the position of Farms Manager for the Campbell Adamson family at Stracathro Estate, Laurencekirk.

The 4,000acre estate grows around 2,500acres of energy crops (Sugar beet, Wholecrop rye and grass silage) to feed an AD plant, alongside 1,500acres of conventional combinable crops (Winter & Spring Wheat, Winter & Spring Oats, Oilseed rape).

Iain has a team of 6, who between them, do almost all operations in house, but tries to stay as hands on as possible, doing the majority of the spraying and combining himself.

Being a member of the Laurencekirk Scottish Agronomy group since 2015, Iain initially joined when he moved up to Laurencekirk as Manager at Tulloch Farms. He finds the group an invaluable management tool to not only get up to date crop recommendations but also to benefit from the experience of all the other members in our group, all of whom are extremely able Arable operators. This transfer of local knowledge and advice was especially valuable when moving to a new area.

The chance to get off farm, particularly at busy times, and sit down for a few hours each month to chat and hear from other farmers (along with some of usual banter and windups!) is a unique offering that is hard to put a value on.

Away from the farm Iain is a keen curler and a season ticket holder for Edinburgh Rugby!
