Tiernan joined Scottish Agronomy in July ’25 from University, where he studied a BSc in Agriculture. His perfect weekend would definitely involve Biscoff Cheesecake, a movie with his partner and a spot of gaming.
Why do you work in Agriculture?
Agriculture has always been a passion of mine but it really honed in during my years at University, where I studied a BSc in Agriculture. Naturally, I found myself looking for a job in this field and was in a fortunate position to gain a role at Scottish Agronomy last summer.
What do you think makes Scottish Agronomy special?
The chance to work outdoors and knowing our research will make a difference to Agriculture.
If I wasn’t working for Scottish Agronomy, I would have been?
I would have done something that involves environmental conservation/wildlife protection.
Best piece of advice you’ve been given?
The best advice/motto that I’ve learnt to embrace from my partner, is ‘what is meant for you, won’t pass you by’.
Guilty Pleasure?
Any type of dessert ranging from Biscoff cheesecake to mint choc ice cream.
Ideal Weekend / Happy Place?
When both my partner and I are free so we can go for a nice brunch or movie
Best or worst job you’ve ever had and why?
This is definitely the best job that I’ve had and my worst was when I worked in retail.
